AgencyONE Gives Back

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
-Winston Churchill

AgencyONE Gives Back allows us to to give back to our local, national and global communities.

Manna Food Center – November 2017

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving Season, AgencyONE Gives Back sponsored a building-wide food drive to benefit the local Manna Food Center. We collected a wide variety of food and are pleased to have contributed to this great cause.

Manna’s mission of ending hunger in Montgomery County, MD through food distribution, education and advocacy is the guiding force of all they do. Manna’s vision for the future is nothing less than food security for all – where hunger no longer exists, as residents are self-sufficient and providing for themselves.

The Children’s Inn at NIH

AgencyONE Gives Back frequently volunteer’s time to The Children’s Inn at NIH – a place for patients and their families to stay while the children are being treated at the National Institutes of Health. This family-centered hospitality facility located in the NIH campus, in Bethesda, MD, offers each family a complimentary stay and the sick children the opportunity to have their families with them while they undergo treatment.

One of the many special programs The Inn provides for the children is called Thoughtful Treasures. When admitted to the Children’s Inn, each child along with his/her sibling(s) is given a key to their own mailbox. Each day the child receives a “treasure” in their mailbox. These treasures are creative projects fully funded, constructed and donated by volunteers.

Thoughtful Treasures – October 2016

The AgencyONE  Gives Back team gathered again this month to create Thoughtful Treasures for Halloween to benefit the young patients at The Children’s Inn at NIH. We spent an evening creating fun, festive and even spooky hand puppets for the children at the Inn to use for Trick or Treating.  We had a great time together expressing ourselves creatively and making something that might put a smile on the faces of the children at the Inn.

Thoughtful Treasures – April 2016

On Monday, April 18th, the AgencyONE Gives Back team gathered to create Thoughtful Treasures for the children. The AgencyONE Gives Back team made two treasures – colorful and creative “bookworm bookmarks” and “monster bag puppets”. We enjoyed our collective time together doing something special for the children, creatively expressing ourselves and making something that would delight the kids. Thanks to AgencyONE‘s Lexy Johnston for spearheading the effort and taking the time to purchase all the creative materials and organize the event.

The 2015 Ride to Conquer Cancer – September 19 – 20, 2015

On September 19th and 20th, 2015, Team AgencyONE suited up and, once again, cycled 150 miles over the course of two days to benefit Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center’s Ride To Conquer Cancer. We rode to benefit this tremendously valuable charity and to honor family and friends who have suffered with this terrible disease.  Our amazing riders (staff, producers partners and friends) raised a combined total of $70,000, more than $20,000 over last year! We are grateful for the support of so many of you who donated generously!

A Wider Circle – August 25, 2015

A group of AgencyONE employees participated in this Neighbor-to-Neighbor program.  A Wider Circle is a DC area organization dedicated to ending poverty for one individual and one family after another, and ensuring that every child and adult has the chance to succeed and the opportunity to live well. Specifically, the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program provides basic need items such as beds, tables, dishes, and other large and small home goods to families transitioning out of shelters, escaping domestic violence, or otherwise living without these basic items. The organization was founded by a single individual, and who started operating out of his living room. Each year, A Wider Circle furnishes the homes of more than 4,000 families.

AgencyONE was thrilled to have the opportunity to support a cause that touches so many lives.  “We spoke to a few of the clients who were there to pick up items and they were so appreciative and many had absolutely nothing in their home, so it was very fulfilling to know we were able to help furnish their home.  It was a very rewarding experience”, said Tera Hill, New Business Case Manager.

Our AgencyONE Team of dedicated professionals took the challenge to ride 150 miles in two days and raised almost $50,000.  The funds pledged by this amazing and moving event support research in the cancer program at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospital. For us, it is personal. Cancer affects everyone. At some point in our lives, we’ve all known someone who has been impacted by this disease. We are doing our small part to support critical research that will help improve the lives of, and give a fighting chance to those who are currently battling this terrible disease. Please support our mission to help fight cancer by riding with us in the future, donating to our cause, or doing both! Thank you to all of our staff, friends, carrier partners, producers and supporters who participated in this ride.

JDRF TypeOne Nation Research Summit- 3/1/2014

Nation Research Summit

Early March took AgencyONE to the JDRF TypeOne Nation DC Research Summit, an all-day event featuring educational and networking opportunities for the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) community. The main program offered access to the leading T1D experts and researchers with an exhibit hall showcasing the latest and greatest education, resources and technology. AgencyONE volunteered for the Youth Program as activity leaders at the Summit. We led the kids in an ice-breaker activity called “Getting to Know You” and assisted with activities that were geared towards understanding the disease and living a long, active and healthy life. The majority of the children in attendance were type 1 diabetics (and their siblings) with early onset, otherwise known as juvenile diabetes.

Toys for Tots – 12/14/13

AgencyONE Gives Back continued their holiday volunteering with Toys for Tots, sorting and packaging toys that will be distributed to less fortunate children in the community. A group of employees and extended AgencyONE family contributed to the local Toys for Tots location. Campaigns run each year during the holiday season to help less fortunate children throughout the U.S. experience the joy of Christmas.

AgencyONE has always been supportive and admirable of the Toys for Tots organization – hosting an office toy drive in previous years – and we are thrilled about furthering our dedication and making a difference in our community this holiday season.

Children’s Inn at NIH – 4/1/2013

Inn at NIH

AgencyONE Gives Back had our first event on 4/1/2013 at The Children’s Inn at NIH. Children and families travel from all over the world come to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) because conventional treatments have failed to have sufficient impact on their illnesses. Located in Bethesda, Maryland, NIH is the world’s premier bio-medical research facility. Children receive treatment for illnesses such as cancer, heart, lung, blood, bone and growth disorders, mental illnesses, and HIV infection.

Several members of the AgencyONE family helped serve approximately 60 guests of the Inn. Cactus Cantina, one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in the DC Metro area, was gracious enough to donate a fully catered dinner for the families. The families were so grateful for the wonderful meal and we were very humbled to hear their stories of strength and courage. A wonderful evening was had by all and we can’t wait to volunteer at The Children’s Inn again very soon!
